Reviewing World of Concrete 2019

From January 22-25, we attended the World of Concrete conference in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The informative seminars began on January 21 and lasted throughout the conference. At our booth, we discussed our state-of-the-art portable concrete slurry water filtration system. Not only did we enjoy the time at our booth, we had the chance to meet a slew of influential professionals in the industry.

Over the course of the week, we had a chance to browse the 1,600+ exhibitors. The latest in concrete and masonry was on full display. We saw a bunch of great new products to provide solutions in multiple industries, from new epoxy and urethan products to temporary floor protection and worksite lighting. MB Crusher America Inc. demonstrated two crusher buckets—one suitable for excavators and one designed for skid steers and backhoes. Oztec Industries demonstrated their patented Rebar Shaker, which solves numerous concrete consolidation problems. Ford showed off their commercial vehicles, and they had raffles after each presentation.

World-class education was a big part of the conference. They offered hands-on training, workshops, boot camps, certification examinations, and industry courses with more than 135 expert industry speakers. The American Concrete Pavement Association presented techniques for constructing smooth concrete pavements, designing concrete pavements with new pavements, and proper joint design, construction, and sealing. Informative safety courses were presented by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle International and Caterpillar Inc. Pix4D presented on Drone Mapping for Surveying and Earthworks. They demonstrated how drone-based photogrammetry is being used for 2D and 3D construction site mapping, surveys, and reconstruction. In addition to demonstrating how the technology works, they discussed how it can be used in the construction industry and how the newfound technology will drive down costs while increasing productivity.
